Certified copies of Hong Kong birth, death and marriage certificates can be obtained online from the Immigration Department. Applications for birth and marriage certificate can only be made by the registered person (bride or groom in case of a marriage certificate) or by the parent or legal guardian in the case of a birth certificate where the subject is under 18. Applications for birth and marriage certificates made by persons other than the registered subject must be made by post and must include details to support the legitimacy of the request. Online applications for death certificates can be made by anyone.

When submitting the application online, you will be asked to select a collection point in Hong Kong. If you would like Isarey to collect the issued certificate on your behalf, please contact us before making the application to make arrangements for collection - we will need a written authorization.

When you complete the online application, the collection date will be shown on the acknowledgement receipt. It normally takes 7-10 working days for the certificate to be issued.

Hong Kong criminal record checks (Certificates of No Criminal Conviction) can be obtained from the Hong Kong Police Force when required abroad for certain types of visa.

  • Applications can be submitted by post (from Hong Kong or overseas) or submitted in person (by the applicant or a representative).
  • Applications to receive Hong Kong background checks will only be accepted where a request letter is provided from a foreign Consulate or Immigration Authority clearly stating that the Certificate is required.
  • Once issued, the certificate will be sent directly to the consulate at the address given in the letter, not to the applicant.
  • Applicants will also need to provide a set of fingerprints certified by the police in the country where they reside.

Where certificates need legalization or apostille stamps, the applicant will need to liaise with the consulate, to collect the certificate after it is received and arrange legalization by the Hong Kong High Court before resubmitting.
