If you are a New Zealand citizen and want to get married overseas, you may require a Certificate of No Impediment or Single Status certificate. The Certificate of No Impediment is evidence no lawful impediment to the intended marriage/civil union has been shown to exist and that according to New Zealand laws you are eligible to be married or enter into a civil union. If the recipient country requires a Certificate of Single Status, New Zealand can provide a Certificate or Search that states that a search of the marriage and civil union registers has been carried out from a certain date.
