How can degree certificates and academic diplomas be attested for submission to Qatar?

Higher Education and Further Education certificates required for submission in Qatar or to support Qatari visa work permit applications need to be attested by the Qatar Embassy with jurisdiction for the country where the certificate was issued. Note that Qatar is not a signatory to the Apostille Convention and does not recognise apostille stamps.

Before being presented to the embassy, degree certificates and supporting documents must be legalized by the issuing country – for example the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In some countries, certificates will first need to be notarized or authenticated by the Ministry of Education.

In most countries, diplomas will only be accepted by the Qatar embassy when accompanied by the Academic Transcripts or Record and an authenticated covering letter from the issuing university.

While specific requirements vary from embassy to embassy, as a rule, Transcripts should include the following information:
- all the modules or subjects studied in each year
- the marks or grades achieved for each module
- the credit value and level of each module

The covering letter from the University must state the following details:
- location of studies
- location of examinations
- start and end dates of studies
- the mode of studies (full-time or part-time)
- the format of studies (distance/online learning or on-site learning)

Depending on the degree, the Qatar embassy will not attest any educational certificate or document obtained via distance learning or online learning.

How can I certify a translation of a foreign document for use in Qatar?

A first option is to carry out a translation of the document in the country of origin. The Qatari embassy may require a translation in any case in order to attest the original document. The embassy may have specific requirements for the translation, otherwise in most countries a locally certified, sworn or notarized translation can be authenticated by the originating country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then by the Qatari embassy, making it valid for use in Qatar.

No - Qatar is not a member of the Apostille Convention and will not therefore recognise Apostille Stamps issued by other countries. To legalize a document for use in Qatar, it must be legalized by the issuing country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then by the accredited Qatari embassy or consulate.
