Italian Civil Status Certificates

Apostille Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates in Italy for use in the United States and abroad

Apostille Italian Birth death marriage certificates
We legalize Italian Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates with Apostille stamps from Prefectures across Italy.

Birth, marriage and death certificates issued in Italy can be certified with a Hague Convention Apostille stamp from the Prefecture (Prefettura) for the province where the birth, death or marriage was issued.

Apostille processing times vary depending on the Prefecture, but in general Italian Apostilles for civil status certificates take 1-2 weeks

Authorities of countries that have signed the Apostille Convention will recognise Apostilles issued by Italian Prefectures directly as confirmation of authenticity. Otherwise, following certification by the Prefecture, the certificate must be attested by the destination country's embassy in Rome.

See list of Apostille Convention Countries

We can obtain new copies of Italian Birth, death and marriage certificates direct from civil registry offices (ufficio anagrafe e stato civile) across Italy, so there is no need to send your copy to obtain an Apostille. Most registry offices issue certificates in around 1-2 weeks, but this can vary depending on the local office.

Isarey will take care of the entire process in Italy for you. We offer individual assistance certifying your documents and a dedicated project manager to ensure that each process is carried out efficiently and securely.

We deliver apostilled certificates to clients worldwide by secure courier.

  • GERMANY: translations into German must be certified by an officially authorized and appointed sworn translator.
  • SPAIN: translator must be authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign AffairsExternal link (opens in new tab) (in Spanish) ("Traducción Jurada")
