What types of documents can be legalized in Singapore for use abroad?

Singapore Apostilles can be obtained for public and notarized documents including:

  • Singapore birth, death and marriage certificates (including digital extracts)
  • Muslim marriage certificates
  • Criminal Certificates of Clearance (CoC) issued by the Singapore Police Force

How can I obtain an apostille for a Singapore birth, death or marriage certificate?

Singapore birth and death certificates (paper certificates and digital extracts) issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, as well as civil and Muslim marriage certificates issued by the Marriage Registry, can be authenticated in Singapore with an Apostille Stamp issued by the Singapore Academy of Law.

How can I obtain my Singapore Criminal Record Certificate to use abroad?

Singapore Certificates of Clearance (criminal background checks) can be obtained from the Singapore Police ForceExternal link (opens in new tab)

  • Singapore citizens can apply for a Police Certificate of Clearance online (Singpass Digital IDExternal link (opens in new tab) required). Singapore Citizens are not required to submit fingerprints.
  • Non-Singapore citizens may apply for a COC and complete the application online.

Singapore residents will be notified to book an appointment for the submission of fingerprints. Non-residents will be notified to mail in a set of fingerprints recorded at an authorised institution in their country of residence (e.g. at a Singapore EmbassyExternal link (opens in new tab) or local police station).

Applicants for a Singapore CoC will also need to provide evidence that a COC is required and for what purpose (e.g. a letter from a foreign immigration authority or embassy). Non-Singapore Citizens applicants are no longer required to submit an Appeal to Apply for a COC.

Certificates will be sent by mail to the address indicated in the application.

How do I obtain an apostille for company registration documents issued in Singapore?

Company registration certificates certified and issued by the Singapore Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) can be authenticated with an Apostille Stamp from the Singapore Acedmy of Law. Companjy certifictaes include:
